BREAKDOWN

BUFFALO THEATRE ENSEMBLE 2025 - 2026 SEASON

Georgiana and Kitty: Christmas at Pemberley

by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon

Directed by Connie Canaday Howard
First rehearsal week of: 10/22/2025
Preview: 11/20/2025
Opening: 11/21/2025
Closing: 12/21/2025

NOTE: All characters speak with British Received Pronunciation dialects.

SEEKING:

Georgiana Darcy - extraordinarily shy, an accomplished pianist, romantic but super hesitant after her experience with Wickham. She is an introvert, but lives a full life in the letters she writes and the music she plays. Very like her brother in some ways, she can be stubborn and a bit of a grudge holder.

Kitty Bennet - a ray of sunshine, the perfect best friend and wing man, she is supportive, optimistic and a problem solver. Without the influence of Lydia, she is more grounded and generous. She is the mastermind behind Georgiana’s future.

Elizabeth Darcy (CAST) - loves all of her sisters, but loves Georgiana like a combo of sister and mom, and brings Georgiana out in a way that Darcy tends to shut her down.

Lydia Wickham - a little extra, but has gained some wisdom. Now that she is suddenly without a husband she is looking for a companion again, only to find Kitty unavailable. She is trouble when she has too much unstructured time on her hands.

Jane Bingley (CAST) - Eldest and most reserved sister of the Bennets. Married to Bingley and very pregnant with her first child. Kind, generous, soft spoken.

Mary Bennet - Middle sister, brainy and extremely recently engaged to Arthur de Bourgh.

Henry Grey - Georgiana's beau - also remarkably shy and an introvert, but of incredible sincerity and intellect. Henry is unassuming, possibly to a fault, and is unaware that he is the hero of the story.

Thomas O’Brien (CAST) - Henry’s friend, a little bawdy and a little jolly, says exactly what's on his mind, does not have much time for polite society but is so good natured that everyone kind of loves him.

Fitzwilliam Darcy (CAST) - proud but finding his warmth, does not forgive easily, perhaps slightly over-protective of his little sister.

Unnecessary Farce

by Paul Slade Smith

Directed by Kurt Naebig
First rehearsal week of: 12/29/2025
Preview: 01/29/2026
Opening: 01/30/2026
Closing: 03/01/2026

SEEKING:

Eric Sheridan (CAST): Male, 30s. A bookish, even-keeled police officer who's thrown into some difficult situations--while not wearing any pants.

Billie Dwyer (CAST): Female, 20s/30s. A police officer. Eric's partner. Although she seems to lack every skill needed for police work, she is enthusiastic and eager to succeed.

Karen Brown (CAST): Female, 30s. An accountant who usually has a very professional demeanor, but seems unable to keep herself in control today.

Mayor Meekly: Male, 50s to 70s. A sweet, gentle fellow, who seems very Innocent (with a capital I).

Agent Frank (CAST): Male, 20s to 50s. Town Hall head of Security. Although he can seem confident and even gruff, in moments of crisis he is easily reduced to a very frightened man.

Todd: Male, 20s to 50s. Speaks with a pronounced Scottish accent. A professional hit man whose accent gets thicker the angrier he gets, until he's completely indecipherable.

Mary Meekly: Female, 50s to 70s. The Mayor's wife. Small statured, she seems very sweet natured, and a good match for her husband the mayor.

Birthday Candles

by Noah Haidle

Directed by Steve Scott
First rehearsal week of: 04/08/2026
Preview: 05/07/2026
Opening: 05/08/2026
Closing: 06/07/2026

SEEKING:

Ernestine Ashworth (CAST) - a woman who reflects on the ordinary moments of her life.

Kenneth (CAST) - Ernestine’s awkward and annoying next door neighbor.

Joan (CAST) (Billy’s wife) - Anxious. Very anxious.

Alex (granddaughter) - Takes no b.s., and Beth (domestic partner) - she quit smoking ten years ago and hasn’t been in a good mood since.

Alice (CAST) (mother) - Selfless. Strong.

Madeline (daughter) - Troubled. Bemused. Beautiful. Erudite, and Ernie (granddaughter) - Ethereal. Vivacious. She doesn’t walk, she glides.

Matt (first husband) - Chiseled jawline. A middle linebacker on the high school football team and William (grandson) - Thirteen. Grand.

Billy (son) - Sensitive. An ear for music, and John (domestic partner) - A man woken up in the middle of the night.
