Lunch from 1:30 – 2:30. New York City

Please prepare a brief, traditional musical theatre song, in the style of the show, that best shows off your voice. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist is provided, but may not transpose.

Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

Reno Sweeney:

Woman, 30s - early 40s. Chic, sexy, brassy nightclub singer turned evangelist. Seeking a strong singer/actor/dancer. Must dance extremely well, including tap. Strong comedic skills a must. Belt.

Billy Crocker:

Mid 20s - mid 30s. Young broker employed by Elisha Whitney. Boards the ship without a ticket, in pursuit of his true love, Hope. To avoid being caught, Billy must adopt a series of disguises. Attractive, charming and funny. Must sing, dance and act extremely well. Must possess excellent comic timing and a gorgeous tenor voice.

Hope Harcourt:

20s. Beautiful debutante, betrothed to wealthy Englishman Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, but secretly in love with Billy. Beautiful, elegant and charming, but torn between two men. Must sing and dance exceptionally well. Soprano/mix.

Moonface Martin:

Man, 40s up. Hapless gangster. Public Enemy #13, but trying to move up on the list. Seeking an exceptional comedic actor who sings.

Lord Evelyn Oakleigh:

Late 30s - 40s. Wealthy, often bumbling Englishman, engaged to Hope. Loves America and is fascinated by American slang, but doesn’t always get it right. Seeking an actor with an excellent British accent and superior comedic skills. Must be comfortable singing.

Erma:

Mid 20s - 30s. Moonface’s sidekick and right-hand woman. Fun, brassy and flirty. A real good-time girl. Seeking an excellent actor/singer/comedienne. Dance skills a plus. Belt.

Evangeline Harcourt:

50s up. Hope’s haughty, overbearing mother. Foolish, but also cold and calculating. Seeking a strong comedic actress.

Elisha Whitney:

50s up. Wall Street tycoon; Billy’s boss. Upper-class blowhard. Seeking an excellent comic actor who can carry a tune.

Captain:

40s up. Military man and captain of the ship. Mature, serious and authoritative. Must sing. Baritone.

Purser:

30s. The captain’s nervous lackey. Must sing/dance well. Tap skills a plus.

Luke and John:

Characters are of Asian descent, 20s - 30s. Luke is a mischievous gambler, while John is a timid worrier. Strong comedic skills needed. Must sing well. Must tap.
