SEEKING:

STELLA KOWALSKI 20s. Pregnant, torn, and stuck between two worlds—her sister’s decaying old South and her husband’s hard, brutal present. Stella left the past behind and chose Stanley, but the cracks are widening. She’s grounded, sensual, and deeply in denial. She moves through the play as both peacemaker and battleground. NOTE: This role may involve partial nudity and requires strong physicality, vulnerability, and stamina. Light Mississippi Delta accent, softened by life in working-class New Orleans.

HAROLD MITCHELL (MITCH) 30s-40s. Stanley’s poker buddy. Lonely, gentle, and awkward—a mama’s boy with a wounded heart. Mitch wants to be the good guy, the nice guy, the guy you settle down with. But he’s stuck between his need for tenderness and the toxic expectations of the men around him. His journey from sweet to bitter is devastating.

EUNICE HUBBELL / AS CAST 30s to 50s. Stella’s no-nonsense upstairs neighbor and fierce protector. Eunice runs the building, calls it like she sees it, and has her own bruised marriage to Steve to contend with. She’s tough, loud, funny, and not afraid to get in the middle of a fight. NOTE: Please note if you play a brass, woodwind, or rhythm section instrument (e.g., trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, tuba, banjo, guitar, percussion) or have any singing experience.

STEVE HUBBELL / AS CAST 30s to 50s. Eunice’s husband. A regular at Stanley’s poker nights. Steve is loud, impulsive, and a bit of a clown, but there’s an edge to him—his marriage is its own version of the chaos downstairs. NOTE: Please note if you play a brass, woodwind, or rhythm section instrument (e.g., trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, tuba, banjo, guitar, percussion) or have any singing experience.

PABLO GONZALES 20s to 50s. Latino. The last member of Stanley’s poker crew. Pablo’s easygoing and good-humored, but he knows when to keep his head down. An outsider in the group by virtue of being Latino, but a regular at the table. NOTE: Please note if you play a brass, woodwind, or rhythm section instrument (e.g., trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, tuba, banjo, guitar, percussion) or have any singing experience.

A YOUNG COLLECTOR / AS CAST 18-22. The paperboy who knocks on Blanche’s door—and gets far more than he bargained for. May double as the Doctor at the end, appearing to take Blanche away. The Collector is innocent and awkward; the Doctor is calm, clinical, and detached. NOTE: Please note if you play a brass, woodwind, or rhythm section instrument (e.g., trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, tuba, banjo, guitar, percussion) or have any singing experience.

NEIGHBOR WOMAN / AS CAST 30s-60s. BIPOC. The wisecracking woman at the top of the show—sees everything from her stoop and says what no one else will. May double as the cold, clinical Nurse who assists in Blanche’s final removal. NOTE: Please note if you play a brass, woodwind, or rhythm section instrument (e.g., trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, tuba, banjo, guitar, percussion) or have any singing experience.

FLOWER SELLER / AS CAST Sells tin funerary flowers—an eerie, ghostly presence who walks the line between vendor and omen. Please note if you play a brass, woodwind, or rhythm section instrument (e.g., trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, tuba, banjo, guitar, percussion) or have any singing experience.

DOCTOR / AS CAST Appears at the end of the show to take Blanche away. May double as A Young Collector.

NURSE / AS CAST A cold, clinical assistant to the Doctor. May double as the Neighbor Woman.

PLEASE NOTE the following roles have already been cast:

BLANCHE DUBOIS (CAST) 30s-50s. A high school English teacher from Laurel, Mississippi. Blanche clings desperately to the faded pageantry of Southern gentility—a performance of charm and poise that’s always on the edge of collapse. Haunted by trauma, scandal, and her husband’s suicide, she arrives in New Orleans chasing safety, fantasy, and one last chance at dignity. NOTE: This role demands fierce emotional range, physical abandon, and an ability to command the room even as it’s slipping through her fingers.

STANLEY KOWALSKI (CAST) 25-35. A proud, working-class alpha—ex-military, now on the factory floor—Stanley is the raw, unapologetic pulse of the room. His power isn’t subtle—it’s physical, sexual, and volatile. He’s a man used to getting what he wants and doesn’t ask twice. Polish-American, New Orleans-born, and a creature of appetite. NOTE: This role requires extreme physical and emotional stamina and may involve nudity.
