SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (See breakdown).

Actors of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, abilities, and backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Rehearsals and performances will take place in Nashville, TN. Actors should be comfortable working locally for the duration of the contract.

This production will be outdoors.

Rehearsals will be partially outdoors until August 14; after that TECH, Dress and Performances are all outdoors.

PREPARATION

Please prepare one Shakespearean monologue, comedic or romantic, no longer than 90 seconds.

A Youth Company of 8–15-year-olds will be involved in ensemble scenes in the play.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

  • Hippolyta – Queen of the Amazons. Doubles as Titania – Queen of the Fairies (Female Presenting)
  • Egeus – Father to Hermia. Doubles as Nick Bottom – Weaver, a pretentious and opinionated actor (Male Presenting)
  • Puck – A mischievous spirit (Any Gender)
  • Helena – Hermia’s lifelong friend, in love with Demetrius (Female Presenting)
  • Hermia – Daughter of Egeus, in love with Lysander (Female Presenting)
  • Demetrius – Suitor to Hermia, endorsed by Egeus (Male Presenting)
  • Lysander – Hermia’s choice of suitor, in love with Hermia (Male Presenting)
  • Philostrate – Theseus’ Master of Revels (US Puck) (Any Gender)
  • Snug – Joiner. Doubles as Lion. Doubles as Fairy (US Lysander) (Male Presenting)
  • Peaseblossom – Attending upon Titania. Doubles as Robin Starveling – Tailor, Doubles as Moonshine (US Demetrius) (Male Presenting)
