DM Playhouse Opens Friday Funday With CHICKEN LITTLE, 10/12

The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents 'Chicken Little,' Friday, Oct. 12. This story is the first in the 2012-13 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at the Playhouse, Friday, Oct. 12, at 9:30 and 10:30 AM, and 1:30 PM. Shows are approximately 45 minutes in length. Admission is $5 per person, adults and children. Reservations are suggested and can be made online at dmplayhouse.com and by calling the Playhouse ticket office at 515-277-6261.

The programming will run from October 11 to November 8, and feature world-renowned artists including: Alloy Orchestra, Kronos Quartet, Rosanne Cash, Marilynne Robinson, and The Klezmatics. The Englert Theatre will partner with the Crisis Center of Johnson County in its Thanksgiving in July Community-Wide Food Drive by giving away a pair of tickets to an upcoming, sold-out performance by actor and musician Hugh Laurie, who will be performing at the Englert on August 17. For each non-perishable food or personal care item donated between July 20 and August 14, participants will receive one raffle ticket for a chance to win a pair of prime seats at the performance. Donations can be dropped off at the Englert Box Office noon-6pm or during any performance, beginning with Paula Poundstone on July 20. The winner will be announced on August 15.
