We've all sat around the dinner table after a holiday meal and reminisced about holidays gone by. Such memories are the threads of the homespun A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES. The story follows the young child Dylan through his memories of perfect Christmas Days. Thomas's tale captures the essence of family life in Wales after World War I. The audience is offered a delightful slice of life, from the days when people had time to spend together and when families gathered and entertained one another with stories, poems and songs. It is sure to delight the old and the young and will be a holiday treat for everyone, even if you don't celebrate Christmas.

"I can never remember whether it snowed for six days and six nights when I was twelve or whether it snowed for twelve days and twelve nights when I was six."

Celebrate the season with a brand-new production of legendary Welsh poet Dylan Thomas' classic holiday story, A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES. Traveling through time and memory, the wistful poet
himself takes you on a holiday journey, where mirthful aunts and uncles, and mischievous playmates inhabit a wondrous, wintery world on Cwmdonkin Drive in the town of Swansea in the 1920's. Infused with traditional Welsh song, A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES is a heart-warming, humor-filled treat for the entire family!

Open Stage Veteran Stuart Landon plays he role of the mature Dylan Thomas. As the 38 years old Thomas records his poetic prose at Caedman Records, the memories of Christmases long past form in front of him. The young Dylan is played by 12 year old Lance Miller. This is Lance's first time in a main stage production at Open Stage.

"Dylan Thomas was a true performer who recorded many of his works for Caedmon Records," says Anne Alsedek, Open Stage of Harrisburg Education Director who also will appear in the play. "His gorgeous words demand to be heard out loud and are truly at home on stage."

True to the Welsh tradition, the evening will be full of music. TJ Boyer serves as Music Director for the production. The music is a mix of traditional Christmas carols and Welsh tunes. The cast is rounded out by Trish Baillie, Cassidy Dermott, Anthony M.C. Leukus. Jim Lewis, and Colin York. Gwen Alsedek will design the costumes and Jim Woland will design the set. For a delightful, nostalgic evening to enjoy Christmas again the way it was, and always should be, don't miss A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES, November 23 to December 15, 2012.
