The Sinatra Songbook Starring John Lariviere Kicks Off Venice Theatre's 2021 Summer Cabaret Festival

BroadwayWorld Award Nominee for Best Vocalist of the Decade for Miami, John Lariviere, will kick off the Venice Theatre's 2021 Summer Cabaret Festival with his show The Sinatra Songbook.

"This is my 4th time returning to the Summer Cabaret Festival with my Sinatra show" said Lariviere. "I have offered them other options, but the audiences seem to love Frank Sinatra, and my performances have usually been sold out." The Sinatra Songbook is scheduled for July 15th & 16th at 7:30pm at the Venice Theatre, and features such hits as "I Get A Kick Out Of You", "Night and Day", "The Lady Is A Tramp", "Fly Me To the Moon", 'That Old Black Magic" and "My Way." This is the Venice Theatre's 8th Summer Cabaret Festival, which it holds in it's 90 seat Pinkerton Theatre. Normally featuring nearly 20 acts throughout the Summer, this year the festival will host 8 acts, each for 2 performances. The venue features cocktail tables (and a bar) which provide a nightclub feel the perfect for intimate cabaret performances. The Venice Theatre also houses the 430 seat Jervey Theatre, which is home to it's mainstage productions. In addition to the musicals and plays they produce, their season includes an array of visiting artists for one night engagements. "I was fortunate enough to appear on their mainstage back in October of 2020 with my Johnny Mercer show Moon River" with jazz pianist Phil Hinton said Lariviere. "The theatre followed all CDC guidelines, and the audience was temperature checked, masked and social distanced. Some theatres have taken criticism for trying to stay open, even while adhering to CDC guidelines. All of them just doing their best to stay in business, keep their subscribers happy, and the performing arts alive. We all know it has been a difficult year for everyone who works in the performing arts. So many shows and theatres closed amidst all the Covid concerns. I've seen many fellow performers switch careers - at least for now. As a cabaret singer I normally book about 100- 120 performances a year. I had 84 performances canceled in 2020, and of course people stopped booking after March. I know I'm lucky because cabaret acts will come back before big cast productions. May and June were business as usual for me, and I hope that other performers will soon be back on stage as well. We've tried to make due with performing virtually, and done a great job, but it's just not the same as the reward of that connection with a live audience" he added.

John is a cabaret, concert and jazz singer regularly appearing at theatres and clubs throughout Florida. He specializes in music from Broadway and the great American Songbook. He has sung live on TV on The Suncoast View (Channel 7 - ABC), and Spotlight On The Arts, and live on the radio on KDW (97.5FM) and WLRN (91.3FM). He can be seen as Theodore in the independent horror film spoof Imaginary Movie (2015), and as Robert in the DMOC web series King of the Streets (2016).
