Tara Merdjanoff & Jeremy Bohen Star In THE MERDJANOFF SPRING FEVER SPECTACULAR at the Duplex

Tara Merdjanoff and Jeremy Bohen return to The Duplex on Friday, April 27th at 7pm with their latest creation, "The Merdjanoff Spring Fever Spectacular!!!", an evening of song, dance and comedic performances. Created by Tara Merdjanoff, the Spectacular appears four times a year at The Duplex located at 61 Christopher Street at 7th Avenue in Greenwich Village.

Tara's character creations include Lucinda, a Puerto Rican scrapbooker from the Bronx, Mouna, a Lebanese waxing salon owner and Sister Vinnie, an Italian-American nun with an...interesting past. These are original comedic characters who you'd love to chat with over coffee...Lucinda would get to the bottom of whatever psychological ill is nagging you by scrapbooking it out, Mouna would clean up that unruly superfluous hair of yours while plotting an all-female take over of the world, and Sistah Vinnie would tell yuz stories about the ol' neighborhood...names changed to protect the not-so-innocent.

From the time she was a little girl dressing up in multiple crazy outfits a day and exploring her own made-up languages, Tara Merdjanoff has been inspired by the comedy of Carol Burnett, the music of Barbra Streisand and the diversity of New York City. Building on those inspirations, a few years ago she convinced her husband, Jeremy Bohen, to learn a few songs to cover her costume changes and - VOILA! - The Merdjanoff Spectaculars were born! Bohen's love of The Rat Pack, Bing Crosby and DooWop combined with Merdjanoff's eclectic musical taste, natural quirk and sizeable petticoat collection create an atmosphere of life-affirming positivity. Show to show, the cast of characters rotates, but the real-life romance between Merdjanoff and Bohen remains the same: completely, utterly, solidly, devotedly, honestly real. Musical Director Jon Delfin helps the two set their heartfelt romance to music and, with his droll demeanor, provides the perfect foil for their fresh-faced zeal.

A mix of traditional cabaret and an old-fashioned comedy/variety show, THE MERDJANOFF SPRING FEVER SPECTACULAR!!! is the latest installment in a long line of holiday-inspired shows from Merdjanoff and Bohen.
