The Meeting* is a monthly comedy/variety show for homosexuals and their friends. A "gay" romp through politics, sexual and otherwise, social news, music, skits, and other important life-changing information. Produced by Adam J. Rosen and Chris Murrah, The Meeting* returns to The Duplex Cabaret Theatre on May 10th at 9:30 pm with writer/host Justin Sayre. Past "agenda items" have included the continuing romantic saga of gay penguins at the San Francisco Zoo, a nativity play celebrating the birth of Quentin Crisp, a guide to the so-called "gay panic" defense, and musical numbers with Poor Baby Bree, Molly Pope, and The Gay Agenda. The April show will feature special guest star Jesse Luttrell and a tribute to Bea Arthur.

The Meeting* operates under the myth of the "gay agenda" and is structured as any organizational meeting for homosexuals would be, where business of the day, upcoming events and social issues are discussed, ridiculed, and interwoven between comedy sketches, musical numbers, and other "homo-hijinks." Host Justin Sayre says, "I wanted a show where we could have a good laugh at ourselves, while getting some information out there. The Internet is great and easy to create a virtual community, but I think so much more is done one on one and with laughter." Audience response has been ecstatic.

From an early age, Justin Sayre demonstrated a supernatural instinct for "camp," an ability that shines throughout The Meeting*. Justin is a child of Forty Fort, PA, who moved to New York believing it was still 1947. He was terribly misinformed. In 2006, Justin received rave reviews for his cabaret, "Without A Song." As an actor, he has worked and studied with some of the finest professionals in New York. As a gay, Justin has excelled at scarf placement, Judy hands, and a healthy but firm love of the American musical.

Jesse Luttrell is a critically-acclaimed performer, having appeared all over the country in touring shows, musical theatre, concerts, and cabaret engagements. His energy-filled live performances have earned him national acclaim as a gifted young song-and-dance-man , and his skillful story-centric style of singing is reminiscent of the cabaret and nightclub acts dating back to the American birth of vaudeville. http://jesseluttrell.com/

The Meeting* occurs at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, located at 61 Christopher Street at 7th Ave, New York, NY 10014, 5/10/10 at 9:30 pm. There is a $10 cover charge and a two-drink minimum ($5 for MAC members and Meeting* Members). You must be 21+ years of age to attend. For reservations, please visit www.theduplex.com.
