Open Hart Productions will present the World Premiere of Cities of Light, created by Rebecca Joy Fletcher & directed by Bistro awarding winning John Richard Thompson, with musical arrangements by Bob Goldstone. The production is part of the Festival of Jewish Theater & Ideas, hosted by Untitled Theater Co. #61.

Blazing lights flash bright, then dark, in the Cabarets of 1930's Berlin, Paris, Warsaw & Tel Aviv. Jewish artists on the move thrill audiences with their Weimar tangos, Paris Dada shimmies, tribal Yiddish romps & lullabies of Tel Aviv. This is Cities of Light: a sparkling kaleidoscope that pays irreverent homage to an era of illumination & darkness. No need to brush up on your languages; these songs are mostly in English!
Rebecca Joy Fletcher is an actress, singer & playwright with a passion for archive-based Jewish theatre & world-wide cabaret. She is a chanteuse with the mind of a scholar & a playwright with the instincts of a performer. She is also a synagogue cantor committed to creating transformative public experiences both on & off the stage.
Rebecca's theatrical-cabaret show, Kleynkunst! Warsaw's Brave Brilliant Yiddish Cabaret, premiered at the first annual Kabarett Fete in NYC. Following its initial success, an expanded version of Kleynkunst! opened Off-Broadway for a sold-out run at the National Yiddish Theater-Folksbiene, the longest continuously-producing Yiddish theatre in the world. In May 2010, with material adapted from Kleynkunst!, Rebecca's Nightingale in Warsaw will premiere in Los Angeles at the West Coast Jewish Theater.

"Ms. Fletcher delivers a richly rounded & eventually heartbreaking performance...illuminating, ultimately touching!"
Lawrence Van Gelder, New York Times
