MAC Nominee KATHRYNE LANGFORD Extends Run of New Show FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH at Don't Tell Mama Starting 7/13

Actress/singer Kathryne Langford was the proverbial "late bloomer" when she decided to launch her cabaret singing career in 2007 at age 62. Her touching performance in Dividing Day, a show inspired by the Adam Guettel Broadway Musical The Light In The Piazza, earned her a 2008 MAC Nomination for "Best Female Debut," and praise from Cabaret icon Jan Wallman, who called Langford "A beautiful blonde singer who can really use her excellent voice."

Five years later, Langford returned to the cabaret stage with a sultry show at Don't Tell Mama called Jazz and Cocktails. BistroAwards.com wrote that Kathryne's alto voice "is smooth, clear, and seductive. As you watch her facial expressions subtly reflect the lyrical content, you begin to imagine a film-noir siren-cool and more than slightly jaded." BroadwayWorld.com raved that "Lush and languid would be the operative words for the soft, smoky alto Langford employed for a set of songs that you might hear in a hotel piano bar during a romantic rendezvous."

Now, after another five-year absence, Langford is back at Don't Tell Mama (343 West 46th St, between 8th & 9th Ave) with her new show, FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH. After launching with well-received shows on February 10, March 2 and May 8, Kathryne is extending the run with shows on July 13 (her 73rd birthday!), September 7 and November 13, all at 7 pm. Featuring the show's title song by Stephen Stills, along with tunes by Bob Dylan, Lennon & McCartney, Sting, David Frishberg, Johnny Mercer and Henri Mancini, and more, Langford's performance is haunting as well as topical. Langford's director is the multiple MAC Award-winning Lennie Watts, with Wells Hanley as Music Director and Arranger, Henry Fraser on Bass, and Mike Lunoe (7/13) or Rex Benincasa on Percussion.

"The line in 'For What It's Worth'-'There's a man with a gun over there, telling me I've got to beware,' is very relevant to these times," Langford says. "Before the 2016 Presidential Election, I had been considering a totally different show, but after the election I didn't think it would be appropriate. Then I thought about songs I had sung at many civil rights marches in the late 1960s and this particular show idea just came to me."
