LIZA'S BACK! (IS BROKEN) Debuts In NYC Image

The Australian theater and concert star Trevor Ashley will make his long-awaited New York debut with Liza's Back! (Is Broken) - following smash seasons in London, and across Australia, including a sell-out run at the Sydney Opera House - at Sony Hall on Monday, February 4, 2019. Using humor, wit, and powerhouse vocals, Liza's Back! (Is Broken) imagines the Broadway career the legendary Liza Minnelli might have had, if she taken on other roles such as Maria in The Sound of Music, Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd, or as Grizabella in Cats. In an astonishing transformation backed by a seven piece band, Trevor recreates the looks, the gowns, the mannerisms and the voice that made Ms. Minnelli a superstar, including some of Liza's biggest hits; "Maybe This Time," "Cabaret" and "Theme from New York, New York," to make for an unforgettable evening. His clever wordplay has the audience doubled over in laughter while his dazzling voice brings the crowd to their feet.

Trevor Ashley, one of Australia's most sought-after and successful performers, has built a career as an actor, writer, director and international queen of cabaret. He recently starred as Thenardier in Les Miserables for which he received his third Helpmann Award nomination, the Australian equivalent of a Tony. Previously, Trevor starred as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray (Sydney Theatre Award nomination), and was also an original cast member of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, creating the role of Miss Understanding. But it is his own creations that he truly shines, including Fat Swan (Helpmann nominee), Diamonds Are For Trevor (Helpmann nominee), I'm Every Woman (Sydney Theatre Award - Best Cabaret), and Liza (on an E), a show which has taken him around the world, culminating with a season in London's West End. In July 2015, Trevor made his directorial debut to sold out audiences and critical acclaim with the Australian premiere of Heathers: The Musical (Sydney Theatre Award nominee - Best Direction of a Musical), which played a sell out season at the Sydney Opera House. Trevor sold out the Sydney Opera House performances of his brand new show Liza's Back! (Is Broken), which debuted in London and sold out Sydney Opera House Concert Hall with his show Diamonds Are For Trevor, which was also broadcast as a two-hour television special.

Trevor Ashley will perform Liza's Back! (Is Broken) at Sony Hall (235 West 46th Street, New York City 10036) on Monday, February 4, 2019. The show is at 8:00 PM and doors open at 6:00 PM. The "VIP Premium Meet & Greet Package" is $60, with General Admission seats are $45 in advance and $50 the day of show. Bar standing room is $30. The "VIP Premium Meet & Greet Package" includes Post-Show Meet & Greet and Premium Reserved Seating. The show is produced with RJ Productions Broadway at Sony Hall Concert Series. SONY HALL is the new premiere music venue in New York City focused on presenting world renowned performing artists across all music genres, powered by state of the art technology. Sony Hall is located in a space that is one of New York's most celebrated historic venues, previously known as The Diamond Horseshoe. Established in 1938 by theatrical showman and impresario Billy Rose, the Diamond Horseshoe was known for its lavish dinner theaters, vaudeville-style reviews, and chorus of showgirls known as "Billy Rose's long-stemmed beauties." The venue is widely recognized as giving Gene Kelly his start and was celebrated in the 1945 feature film "Billy Rose's Diamond Horseshoe" starring Betty Grable. Blue Note and Sony have preserved much of the classic look and feel of the venue with select renovations. www.sonyhall.com
