Fresh from starring in Jerry Springer the Opera, singer Joelle Lurie returns to Metropolitan Room with "This Time Tomorrow," for two performances only, Thursday September 10th @ 7:30pm & Saturday September 12th @ 5pm. This night of jazz standards, with a splash of pop & a pop of sass, is directed by Amy Rogers with Musical Director Matt Van Brink leading the trio.

Following a sold out run last spring, Joelle will present a night of songs from the Great American Songbook, as well as Sondheim, re-imagined pop tunes & originals, exploring how dreams shift, expectations change & that love & living in the moment is what we all need to remember.

Most recently seen as Shawntel in Jerry Springer the Opera in her hometown of Boston, Joelle began her career as a teenager at Tanglewood & at New England Conservatory, where she studied jazz. She sang jazz at a number of venues in the Boston area, including Sculler's Jazz Club & was given the opportunity to sing at Amateur Night on Showtime at the Apollo where she was, thank goodness, not booed off the stage. She has studied opera at Indiana University School of Music & the Opera Theatre & Music Festival of Lucca, Italy. In Boston, she began doing jingles for regional TV & radio ads, as well as workshops of new musicals by composers such as Brian Lowdermilk & Kait Kerrigan, while continuing to perform on the Boston jazz scene, hosting a weekly night at Encore Piano Lounge.

Since arriving in New York, she has recorded new musical works, including Michael Wartofsky's The Navigator, commissioned by North Shore Music Theatre & has been featured on a variety of recording projects, including songwriter submissions to major artists such as Britney Spears, back up vocals for Sony's Chris Mann & on Josh Ritter's latest album, The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter.
