DAVE GRUSIN, Oscar and Grammy Winning Composer-Pianist is stepping into the 'spotlight' for the first time in many years, a rare public appearance, on October 14 - 18 at The IRIDIUM, produced by Pat Philips and Ettore Stratta.

He will be joined by Special Guests, Grammy Award Winning Flutist, NESTOR TORRES and Top Jazz Trombonist, STEVE TURRE with a star studded rhythm section of PETER WASHINGTON on Bass and KENNY WASHINGTON on Drums. In addition Russian Virtuoso Cellist, BORISLAV STRULEV will join the ensemble. GRUSIN will take the public on an artistic journey from Acoustic Piano to early Fusion, touching on the Classical, going thru some of his Film theme music as he has written over 60 film scores, receiving 8 Academy Award nominations including an Oscar in 1988 for the score of The Milagro Beanfield War. His work as a recording Artist and Producer has resulted in '12 'Grammy Awards and countless nominations.

Over the years, he has worked with a long list of renowned artists such as Gerry Mulligan, Quincy Jones, Peggy Lee, Carmen McRae, ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM, GROVER WASHINGTON, PATTI AUSTIN, BOBBY MacFERRIN, Diana Krall and James Taylor.

GRUSIN was also the co-founder of the pioneering independent record label GRP. Early fusion Jazz albums include Mountain Dance, Harlequin, and Migration and a deep immersion in digital technology. In the 90's, he returned to a focus on the acoustic piano, which led to four critically acclaimed tribute albums of Gershwin, Ellington, Mancini, and Bernstein. More recently he has revisited his early roots working with Lee Ritenour on classical CD projects with guests Renee Fleming, Joshua Bell, Chris Botti, and GIL SHAHAM. In 2004, he released a solo piano album "Now Playing", a collection of his film themes. As top Arranger/Composer/Pianist, he has worked with numerous symphony orchestras.

NESTOR TORRES joins GRUSIN in what is to be an important musical appearance for this master of the Jazz flute who has come to NY for this high profile performance having been off the scene for part of his career due to an injury. He returned with accolades all over the world and a Grammy in 2001 for his CD "This Side of Paradise". His Latin Jazz Roots will be utilized in the special Grusin program

STEVE TURRE is one of the world's pre-eminent jazz innovators of the trombone (also a Seashellist) having worked with Ray Charles, Woody Shaw, Art Blakey's Jazz Mesengers, Dizzy, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, The Carnegie Hall Jazz Orchestra, Tito Puente and so many others as well as his own Quartets. He's also been a member of the Saturday Night Live Band since 1984.

BORISLAV STRULEV, Classical Cellist has come to Jazz in the past few years having appeared at the OSCAR PETERSON TRIBUTE at Carnegie Hall and recorded with REGINA CARTER on her hit CD "Paganini, After a Dream" as well as having performed in her Concert of the CD at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.

Along with the masterful rhythm section of PETER WASHINGTON on Bass and KENNY WASHINGTON on Drums, DAVE GRUSIN will take to the spotlight as he winds in and out of a brilliant musical career.
