"Divorce – The Musical…Better Mad Than Sad," created by Ruthe Ponturo, will deliver eight showcase performances beginning on September 28, 2012 at the Triad Theater in New York City at 158 West 72nd Street. The eight performances will be the first productions of the comedic cabaret.

After 34 years of married bliss, choreographer, director and philanthropist Ruthe Ponturo had her life turned upside down after her husband announced he was leaving her for a younger woman. Determined to not let divorce steal her spirit, Ponturo found solace in creating a cabaret style show based on her own experiences.

"I am thrilled to share my story with New York City audiences," said Ponturo. "Divorce – The Musical…Better Mad Than Sad, with its relatable themes and vast array of music genres, offers something for everyone."

Created by Ruthe Ponturo, co-produced by Rosemary Kalikow, and directed by Greg McCaslin, Divorce – The Musical will feature music by John Thomas Fischer and Ruthe Ponturo. Costumes for the show have been created by Tony Award winner Paloma Young.

Tickets are currently available through www.brownpapertickets.com, or by calling (800) 838-3006. General admission tickets to the eight shows will cost $40. There is a two-drink minimum, and only cash will be accepted for drinks. For more information about Divorce – The Musical…Better Mad Than Sad, visit www.divorce-themusical.com.
