BRUCE CLOUGH--Veteran Actor, Singer, & Cancer Survivor--Celebrates His Life's SILVER LININGS At Don't Tell Mama, 6/15

After five years of teaching, running a theatre department, singing in a big band, and fighting cancer, Singer/Actor BRUCE CLOUGH returns to the New York Don't Tell Mama stage--the scene of his many past Cabaret triumphs--to celebrate times in his life when something awesome came from something awful.

For eight months during 2016, Bruce thought he was just suffering from a persistent sore throat. He visited many doctors and received many probes and prods, until he finally demanded a biopsy. On January 20, 2017, he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma on his left tonsil. After enduring 33 radiation and seven chemotherapy treatments, he started his post-treatment recovery last May. Almost a year after the original diagnosis, Bruce launched his comeback cabaret show, SILVER LININGS, in front of a packed house at the Rrazz Room in New Hope, PA.

On Sunday, July 15 at 3:30 PM, Bruce brings SILVER LININGS to Don't Tell Mama (343 W 46th St., between 8th & 9th Ave). Featuring his Musical Director Jeff Dershin on piano, and backup vocalists Barbara Gurskey and Stephen Belfatti, Bruce will tell his poignant and inspirational life stories through classic Broadway show tunes, popular film songs, and eclectic pop music from the 1960s to the 2000s, featuring compositions by Irving Berlin, Jerry Herman, Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman, Jonathan Larson, Van Morrison, Weird Al Yankovic, and more. Cover charge is $20 plus a two-drink minimum person (cash only). For reservations, call 212-757-0788 (after 4:00 PM) or go to: https://donttellmamanyc.com/shows

BRUCE CLOUGH--Veteran Actor, Singer, & Cancer Survivor--Celebrates His Life's SILVER LININGS At Don't Tell Mama, 6/15 Bruce Clough's last New York Cabaret show, 2013's THE DARK SIDE, earned this rave from Cabaret Hotline Online: "Bruce Clough proves once again that he is one of the most exciting performers on the New York cabaret scene. What a spectacular voice-raspy, sexy, with a tremendous range and soul. Bruce is also a fantastic actor and storyteller who really pushed himself and the envelope in this fun show. He completely connected to the lyrics, and his patter was fluid and delivered as if he was just chatting us up . . . but with purpose."

THE BRUCE BIO:

Bruce Clough has juggled careers as a professional actor, band singer, director, teacher, editor, and acting coach. He's performed over 100 roles on stage, including a number of Shakespeare's hits (Falstaff, Bottom, Hotspur, Hamlet, Macbeth), along the way working with Show Biz icons like Sir Anthony Hopkins, F. Murray Abraham, Mike Nichols, and James Gandolfini, and performing at such prestigious venues as The Public Theatre, The Dallas Theatre Center, and The Actors Theater in Louisville. From 2006-2013 Bruce created a unique, somewhat dark brand in the New York cabaret scene with a series of audience pleasers--B-B-B-BAD! at Danny's and Don't Tell Mama in NYC (2006-7); TWO B-B-B-BAD! at Danny's and Don't Tell Mama (2007); "Sweet Soul Music" at Don't Tell Mama (2008); Fillet of Soul at Danny's and Don't Tell Mama in NY (2009-10); Big Bad Bruce at Don't Tell Mama (2011); Beauty and the Bruce at Don't Tell Mama (2012). Since then he has been variously teaching Language Arts and Drama, running a Drama Department, singing with a big band, and fighting cancer. He owes an enormous debt as a teacher, performer and person to his mentor, Uta Hagen.
