Brad Pitt to Be Honored at Palm Springs Int'l Film Festival

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Brad Pitt will be honored at the 23rd annual Palm Springs International Film Festival. The actor will be awarded the Desert Palm Achievement Actor Award for his starring role in 'Moneyball' and his supporting role in 'The Tree of Life'. The award will be given at the festival's Awards Gala which takes place at the Palm Springs Convention Center on January 7th of 2012.

Festival chairman Harold Matzner praised the actor for his talents and commented, "Brad Pitt consistently mesmerizes audiences with the depth and versatility of his performances. He has the rare ability to interpret and capture the most complicated facets of human nature, infusing his roles with strength and emotion."

In the film, 'The Tree of Life', Pitt took on the role of a father who is raising a sensitive son, struggling to understand his difficult childhood. In 'Moneyball', he played a hard-working, competitive professional baseball player who comes into contact with his team's management.

Prior awards bestowed on the actor include the New York Film Critics Circles' best actor award and a best actor nomination from the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Screen Actors Guild.
