Returning for a second year to the Las Vegas-area on Saturday, October 10, 2015 RiSE - a lantern festival which celebrates the collective elevation of peoples' hopes, dreams, resolutions, goals and desires - announces a new location and event details.
Taking place for an expected 10,000 attendees on the Moapa River Reservation (approximately 35 miles northeast of Las Vegas, adjacent to Valley of Fire State Park), the gathering will feature the simultaneous release of thousands of flame-lit paper lanterns, each carrying an individual meaning and together forming something beautiful.
"We started RiSE to give a voice to peoples' hopes and dreams, and we are excited to bring it back to this community again," stated co-founder of RiSE Dan Hill. "This is an event based on optimism and we are committed to making it one that our attendees cherish for a lifetime."
In 2014 thousands of guests lifted their spirits with the release of over 20,000 lanterns on the Jean Dry Lakebed, just southwest of Las Vegas. This year, organizers have reimagined the event layout and logistics to elevate the attendee experience, with a new location, convenient parking, and a more streamlined lantern release plan. Additionally - and as always - the festival organizers continue their commitment to environmental sustainability by launching specially designed fire-safe and biodegradable lanterns, which will be cleaned up within 48 hours of the event's end.
"We have a 'leave-no-trace' policy and generally try to enhance the beauty of the areas in which we host events," adds Hill. "Last year we hauled away three 30-yard dumpsters of pre-existing litter from our Nevada event and purchased carbon offsets for all energy utilized in the planning and execution of RiSE. This year we will do the same."
