The LA Opera Celebrates the Opening of Its New Season with the OPERA BALL, 9/13
On Saturday, September 13, La Traviata, one of opera's greatest romances, will launch our highly anticipated 2014-15 Season. It will feature an incomparable cast led by our own Plácido Domingo in his first Los Angeles performance as Giorgio Germont, the dazzling Nino Machaidze in her role debut as Violetta and the dashing Arturo Chacón-Cruz as Alfredo Germont. The 1920s come roaring to life in Marta Domingo's updated Art Deco-inspired production under the inspired baton of James Conlon.
We are celebrating this dazzling opening night with a glamorous Opera Ball that will transport you back to the stylish era of the Great Gatsby.
Following Red Carpet arrivals, the evening begins with an elegant champagne reception hosted by Kate Walsh, star of the upcoming NBC series Bad Judge. Following the performance, guests will enjoy dinner by Patina and the night of enchantment continues with cocktails and dancing. This year's Opera Ball will honor Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, one of the region's greatest champions of the arts.
The Opera Ball will raise funds for our world-class productions as well as our extensive education and community engagement programs that enrich the lives of all Angelenos. For photos of previous opening night celebrations and additional information about Opera Ball 2014, visitLAOpera.org/OperaBall.
