Nevill Holt Opera Announces Two New Orchestral Partnerships For 2018 Ahead of the much-anticipated unveiling of their brand new 400-seat theatre, the rising star of UK summer opera festivals - Nevill Holt Opera - has now announced two new orchestral partnerships with Royal Northern Sinfonia and Britten Sinfonia for their 2018 season.

Nevill Holt Opera's increasing popularity as a superior opera destination in the stunning East Midlands countryside and their marked growth in membership numbers for the 2018 season has seen the first production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro sell out all performances.

The new partnership with Royal Northern Sinfonia will see them provide the orchestra for Le Nozze di Figaro. Following the run at Nevill Holt Opera, there will be two exciting fully staged performances at Sage Gateshead on 4th and 6th July as part of the Great Exhibition of the North.

Thorben Dittes, Chief Executive of the Royal Northern Sinfonia, says, We are delighted to be partnering with NHO in this landmark year for them, and performing repertoire that suits our orchestra so perfectly.

The festival will continue with the first UK revival of the acclaimed production of Adès' Powder her Face, originally created by Northern Ireland Opera, conducted by rising star Ian Ryan. Directed and designed by Antony McDonald, this production will star Mary Plazas in the title role.

Acclaimed for its expertise across wide range of repertoire, the second orchestral partnership with Cambridge based ensemble Britten Sinfonia, makes them the perfect ensemble for a production like Powder her Face - in particular their close association with composer and conductor Thom Adès.

David Butcher, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Britten Sinfonia comments: We are very much looking forward to this new partnership with Nevill Holt Opera and to being part of the first season in their new theatre. The orchestra has strong artistic ties with composer Thomas Adès, so it is particularly fitting to be playing his dazzling score to Powder her Face - a first for both the orchestra, and for Nevill Holt.

Nicholas Chalmers, Artistic Director of NHO, comments: We are delighted that two of the UK's premiere orchestras will be partnering with us to continue our aspiration of creating an opera festival of exceptional quality in the East Midlands. The Royal Northern Sinfonia is the perfect ensemble for Le Nozze di Figaro and we are excited that they will be playing at the opening of our new opera house. In addition, we're thrilled to announce the partnership with the Britten Sinfonia for Adès' Powder Her Face - an exciting collaboration between composer, orchestra and Anthony McDonald's 5 star production.

With a history of hosting touring opera productions on the estate since 2005, Nevill Holt Opera was itself founded in 2013 as an independent festival with its own distinctive vision. Since then NHO has been committed to casting and working with young UK opera singers.

Box Office Tickets are available priced £75 - £145. Available from the NHO box office and www.nevillholtopera.co.uk or 0115 846 7777. Tickets for the 2018 festival will be available for general booking from February.
