Metropolitan Opera Cast Change Advisory: AIDA
American soprano Kristin Lewis, making her Metropolitan Opera debut, will sing the title role in Verdi's Aida on January 7, 11, 14, and 18, 2019, replacing Sondra Radvanovsky, who has withdrawn for personal reasons.
Lewis has previously sung the role around the world, including at the Bavarian State Opera, Vienna State Opera, Arena di Verona, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Hamburg State Opera, Teatro Fenice in Venice, and Opera Hong Kong. She recently sang the title role of Puccini's Tosca at Hamburg State Opera. Other roles have included Amelia in Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera at Vienna State Opera and in Venice, Leonora in Verdi's Il Trovatore at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and Mimì in Puccini's La Bohème in Munich, Bess in Gershwin's Porgy and Bess at La Scala, and Elisabeth de Valois in Verdi's Don Carlo at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
The cast for Aida includes Dolora Zajick as Amneris, Yonghoon Lee as Radamès, Roberto Frontali as Amonasro, Vitalij Kowaljow as Ramfis, and Soloman Howard as the King. Nicola Luisotti conducts.
Aida will return to the repertory with Radvanovsky in the title role for three more performances on February 28, and March 4 and 7, 2019.
