Mariusz Kwiecien will sing the title role in Mozart's Don Giovanni on October 25 and 29. After injuring his back at the dress rehearsal of the new production on October 10, Kwiecien had surgery to repair a herniated disc. Although the injury forced him to withdraw from the first three performances, Kwiecien's doctors say he will be able to begin performing by October 25. Kwiecien will then continue the run of performances as originally scheduled on October 31, November 3, 7, and 11.

The October 29 matinee will be transmitted worldwide as part of The Met: Live in HD series.

As previously announced, Peter Mattei, who stepped into the role of Don Giovanni at the production premiere on October 13, will sing performances on October 17 and 22 evening. Mattei is himself being replaced in the October 22 matinee of IL Barbiere di Siviglia by Rodion Pogossov.

The new production of Don Giovanni, conducted by Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi and directed by Michael Grandage, also stars Marina Rebeka in her Met debut as Donna Anna, Barbara Frittoli as Donna Elvira, Mojca Erdmann in her Met debut as Zerlina, Ramón Vargas as Don Ottavio, Luca Pisaroni as Leporello, Joshua Bloom as Masetto, and Štefan Kocán as the Commendatore.
