In this evening's performance of Donizetti's La Fille du Régiment, Leah Partridge will sing the title role and Lawrence Brownlee will sing Tonio, replacing Diana Damrau and Juan Diego Flórez, who are ill.

Partridge made her Met debut in 2008 in Peter Grimes and sang the role of the Charmeuse in Thaïs in the following season. Also in 2008, she made her debut at the Deutsche Opera Berlin as Gilda in Rigoletto. She recently sang the role of Adina in L'Elisir d'Amore in Atlanta and also this season takes on the title role of La Traviata at the Opera Company of Philadelphia.

Brownlee made his Met debut as Count Almaviva in IL Barbiere di Siviglia in 2007, a role he repeats this season, with remaining performances February 26 through March 4. In April, he will sing the role of Rinaldo opposite Renée Fleming in the Met premiere of Rossini's Armida. The American tenor, who was a 2001 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions winner, sang Prince Ramiro in La Cenerentola, which was transmitted around the world as part of The Met: Live in HD series. He has previously sung Tonio at the Hamburg State Opera and the Cincinnati Opera.

La Fille du Régiment also features Meredith Arwady as the Marquise de Berkenfield, Maurizio Muraro as Sulpice, and Kiri Te Kanawa as the Duchess of Krakenthorp. Marco Armiliato conducts.

New king of the high Cs Juan Diego Flórez reprises his headline-grabbing performance in the comic hit from the 2007-08 season. Diana Damrau makes her Met role debut as Marie. Kiri Te Kanawa returns to the Met stage in the speaking role of the Duchess of Krakenthorp.
A co-production of the Metropolitan Opera; the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London; and the Wiener Staatsoper, Vienna
