The Metropolitan Opera announced that this evening's scheduled recital in Queens' Socrates Sculpture Park has been canceled due to inclement weather. The recital, which was the final event in the Met's 2013 Summer Recital Series, will not be rescheduled.

This summer, the Met presented free recitals in Manhattan's Central Park and Jackie Robinson Park, Brooklyn's Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the Bronx's Crotona Park. The Met's summer events continue August 24 when the Summer HD Festival, which offers free encore screenings from the Met's award-winning Live in HD series of movie theater simulcasts, returns for its fifth season.

This year's festival will offer ten consecutive nights of free screenings on a large screen in Lincoln Center Plaza, with 3,100 free seats available and no tickets required. This year's screenings begin with La Traviata on August 24 at 8 p.m. and conclude with Aida on September 2 at 8 p.m.; for a complete schedule or more information, visit www.metopera.org/summer.
