Linda Watson will sing the role of Isolde in Wagner's Tristan und Isolde on December 20, replacing Katarina Dalayman, who is ill. Ms. Watson first sang Isolde in 1998 at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf), and has since performed the role in Prague, Florence, Bern, Tokyo, Munich, Amsterdam, and Los Angeles. She is also a noted Brünnhilde in Wagner's cycle, Der Ring des Nibelungen, which she has performed at the Bayreuth Festival for the last three summers, from 2006 to 2008. Watson made her Met debut as Kundry in Wagner's Parsifal in April, 2003.

Daniel Barenboim conducts on December 20 with a cast that also includes Peter Seiffert as Tristan, Michelle DeYoung as Brangäne, Gerd Grochowski as Kurwenal, and Kwangchul Youn as King Marke. The production is by Dieter Dorn with sets and costume designs by Jürgen Rose.
