AMC Theatres to Premiere CARMEN 3D, 3/4

AMC Theatres (AMC), a leading theatrical exhibition and entertainment company, today announces that the world's most popular opera, "Carmen," will be available for the first time ever in spectacular RealD 3D with the release of the feature film event CARMEN IN 3D at 167 AMC theatres in 47 markets beginning March 4.

A co?production of RealD and London's internationally renowned Royal Opera House, CARMEN IN 3D is the first ever opera shot live and released in theatres in 3D. CARMEN IN 3D gives viewers the best seat in the house, taking them on a magic carpet ride into the heart of the performance immersing them as never before into this exciting story of love, jealousy and betrayal.

Georges Bizet's "Carmen" has been captivating audiences since its debut in 1875. This modern production, filmed in 3D during live performances at the Royal Opera House, is a feature film depicting acclaimed director Francesca Zambello's updated interpretation of the opera classic. CARMEN IN 3D was directed for cinema by Julian Napier and produced by Phil Streather, with memorable performances by Christine Rice (Carmen), Bryan Hymel (Don José), Aris Argiris (Escamillo) and conducted by Constantinos Carydis. The film is available with subtitles in English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian and Japanese where applicable.
