Zenon Dance will premiere two pieces as they present their final production for the inaugural season at The Cowles Center, opening this weekend, May 4. The pieces are Wine Dark Sea and All Parts Are Welcome. See details below.

Wine Dark Sea
by Wynn Fricke with live music by Peter O'Gorman

Fricke's describes her eighth piece for Zenon, "Wine Dark Sea," as "a haunting ensemble work that explores our human connection to the sea, in our bodies and collective imagination, where we feel its elemental power to lure, seduce, destroy and succor. The deeply involving score of drums and sonorous metal is composed and performed live by Peter O'Gorman." O'Gorman has been called a "sonic shape-shifter" (Star Tribune) and "percussive genius" (Pioneer Press).

All Parts Are Welcome
by Morgan Thorson

Thorson's new, full-company work for Zenon is "All Parts Are Welcome," with a recorded score by Chris Schlichting. Thorson says the work, "brings everything that makes us human into the choreographic process by way of observation, same sex attraction, flipping, dominance, rejection, a desire for intimacy, lies, compartmentalizing, obedience, manipulation, wanting to be seen, arrogance, love, the international sign for NO-even running out of time and bad habits. It's an effort to stare down our most conflicted feelings about life through dance and say good-bye to all of those who can't get on board."

Opening this weekend, the show plays May 4-5 & 11-12, 8pm, May 6, 7pm and May 13, 3pm. Tickets are $30 plus fees. Click here to purchase.
