YMCA School of Dance Presents, “Let it Shine!” An Annual Dance Recital
The performance will include students from the school, as well as members of the YMCA School of Dance outreach performance company. Tickets are $10 per person and are available at the YMCA front desk and will be for sale the day of the show.
In the spring of 2013, Katie Glover, alumni of the 29-year-old dance program, became the Director of the YMCA School of Dance. Since her placement, Katie has led the introduction of a new program for pre-schoolers, a musical theater course, a choreography class, and a teacher-training program based on National Dance Education Standards. Along with her highly experienced staff, the YMCA dance program has reinvigorated the Cecchetti Method Ballet training program. Over the past school year 20 students have successfully passed their national ballet exams. Additionally, the dancers participating in the outreach performance company have enjoyed increased regional performing and learning opportunities.
The YMCA School of Dance offers instruction for both recreational and rigorous students ages 2 - 18, along with recreational adult dance classes. The program offers arts education opportunities just right for everybody in the Frederick Community, including: Ballet, Ballroom, Creative Movement, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Modern Dance, and Tap dance styles.
Summer dance classes and dance camps will be held at the YMCA from June 16 - August 15. Fall classes begin September 2nd. For more information, please contact Katie Glover at kglover(at)frederickymca(dot)org, or at 301-663-5131, ext. 1275.
