Why we love it: It is an incredible thing to behold when an artist finds her own distinctive voice within her practice. Israeli choreographer/dancer Sharon Eyal is an awe-inspiring example of just that. After 23 years with the Batsheva Dance Company, Eyal decided to forge her own creative path. In 2009, she left the company to create pieces for dance companies all over the world, utilizing the elements of Batsheva's "Gaga" style, an intense, highly self-aware style of movement authorship. In 2005, Eyal joined forces with her life partner, Tel Aviv party producer Gai Behar, to create stunning works with an authentic nightclub aesthetic.

Why you'll love it: With music by the indie band The Knife, L-E-V is a fascinating confluence of movement, music, lighting, fashion, art, and technology that could be equally at home in a techno club or an opera house. Discover why the New York Times says that the company has "a defined style that it takes most troupes years to develop." Plus, the performance is followed by a Post-Show Q&A with the artists and a free Breakfast Download Discussion on Sunday, October 4 at 11 am in the U-M Alumni Center.

What it's about: L-E-V's debut program features two wildly different works: Sara and Killer Pig.
