Tango Buenos Aires Coming to Strand-Capitol, 2/13/2015

On Feb 13, 2015, downtown York's historic Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center will welcome Tango Buenos Aires. Tickets are on sale now to Strand-Capitol members and go on sale to the general public on Thursday, May 1 at 10:00 a.m.

Tango Buenos Aires' 2014-2015 tour, the Song of Eva Perón, is the tale of this mythical figure put into traditional tango dance and music from Buenos Aires. One of the most alluring and exciting dance forms, the tango embodies sensuality, intrigue, and passion; perfect for portraying the epic life of Eva Perón.

Feel the heat as the dancers perform with raw intensity to the sublime five piece orchestra featuring the haunting and sensual sounds of the bandoneon, the traditional instrument of the Argentine Tango. With flying feet, slashing legs and swirling spins, couples move in perfect coordination to the sexy, dramatic rhythms of the tango. The hot, heady atmosphere of the dance will leave you breathless.

Famed choreographer Susana Rojo has created a sparkling spectacle that is not to be missed!

Tango Buenos Aires was created for the "Jazmines" festival at the famous cabaret "Michelangelo," the most important club for Tango in Buenos Aires. The company met with tremendous success and in 1986 they traveled to New York City's Delacorte Theatre in Central Park to represent Argentina in the Latin-American Festival. Since then, Tango Buenos Aires has become one of Argentina's great cultural exports, known throughout the Americas, Europe and the Far East as the most authentic and uncompromising representative of the Tango. Their extensive tours have crossed the globe many times over.
