Dance Council of North Texas and Dallas Summer Musicals together present the exciting "Before-the-Show Show" of energetic tap dancing. Prior to the big show at the Music Hall in Fair Park, see 45 minutes of fast-paced, enthusiastic dancing from tappers throughout the Metroplex. You will be warmed up for Mamma Mia! It's going to be "TAP- Sational"!!

Tracy Jordan, Director of DSM High School Musical Theatre Awards, is co-director for the Hoofin' Crew. This group of young performers from a number of studios in the region will strut their stuff in several routines throughout the program. Mr. Jordan has a wealth of experience as a performer and choreographer in Las Vegas, regional theater, TV commercials and on cruise ships. Joe Cutaia who also directs the Hoofin' Crew, has toured in national companies of Little Me, George M and Hello Dolly. He and his wife, Ann Briggs, are well-known for directing The Chaplin Cotillions. Sherri Wooten, Hoofin Crew co-director, is co-owner/director of Li-Sher Dance Studio in Commerce, Texas.

The Hoofin' Crew serve as unofficial ambassadors of Tap Dancing. These talented dancers are Teylor Hare from Hurst, Geornay B. Sanders from Fort Worth, Margaret Ferguson and Natalie Waits from Dallas, Emily Schmukal of Rockwall who was selected to Sole to Soul Tap Dance Festival in Austin, Cali Nebe and Candace Robinson who hail from Mesquite, Andrea Violet from Blanchard, Louisiana and Tabatha Wooten, Commerce, who is receiving a Dance Council Scholarship for Summer Study.

The free "TAP- Sational Pre-Show" is like a Red Carpet entry for dancers and audience to enjoy some delightful bonus entertainment on their way to the Music Hall. You will see some of the finest tap dancing Texas has to offer including:

- London School of Dance, Garland
- Dana's Dance Academy, Irving
- Li-Sher Dance, Commerce
- Texas Cool Dancers, Garland
- The Drawbacks Youth Tap Ensemble
- Katelyn Harris

2014 DCNT Tap Dancing Scholarship Recipients will also showcase their amazing talents including Lauren Ohman of North Richland Hills, Brynn Webber from Trophy Club, Keaton Dear from San Antonio and Joshua Scott of McKinney. To close the "TAP- Sational Pre-Show" the audience is invited to join in The Shim Sham, the National Anthem of Tap, led by Buster Cooper. Mr. Cooper, 90 years young, still teaches two mornings each week.

Want to learn The Shim Sham? It's the Tap Dance National Anthem and its fun! The DCNT will provide a volunteer to give a refresher rehearsal or teach this traditional dance number to dancers, groups or a class upon request. Contact Sherri Wooten: swooten@hotmail.com.
