Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet School announces the kick-off of the 2013/14 International Audition Tour as it prepares to send a team of professional ballet educators across the country to search for the next generation of talent. The tour provides young dancers an opportunity to audition for a spot at a school that has been a top global training destination for over forty years. The tour goes from coast to coast with fourteen stops across Canada and one stop in the United States. In addition to in-person auditions, local dancers can attend master classes with RWB School ballet experts in each city on the tour.

Those who audition have the opportunity to win a full tuition scholarship for the four week Summer Session taking place in July 2014. A proud supporter of the RWB, Investors Group awards a $2,000 scholarship to an aspiring dancer in every province and territory across Canada. The four week Summer Session serves as the second phase of the audition process for the full-time program.

Graduates of the RWB School Professional Division have been sought out by top tier performing arts organizations throughout its 42-year history. With its alumni having outstanding careers with world renowned companies - from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company to Broadway to Cirque du Soleil to La La La Human Steps to New York City Ballet to Stuttgart Ballet - the RWB School has been producing some of the finest dancers and dance educators in global arena for over four decades.

"Making the decision to audition for the RWB School set me up for years of success in my international dance career," said RWB School graduate, current Ballet Mistress and former Principal dancer for the RWB Company, Vanessa Lawson. "Being in an environment with educators that were so technically skilled, so passionate about the art form and so supportive of my personal development played a huge role in my growth as a dancer. Attending the RWB School audition was what opened the door and ultimately allowed me to fulfill my dream of becoming a professional dancer."

Auditions will be held for all three of the RWB School professional training programs. The full-time Ballet Academic Program combines first rate academic education with the highest quality of dance training for students from grades 6 to 12. Prospective students also have two opportunities to audition at the post-secondary level: the RWB School Aspirant Program and the RWB School Teacher Training Program. The Aspirant Program is a two year full-time program that provides experienced dancers the opportunity to expand their repertoire, refine their technique and gain valuable performance experience to launch their professional career. The Teacher Training Program is a three year full-time program that offers the finest pedagogical, practical and interpersonal skills for a career as a dance educator. Every student with a dream to dance or teach professionally is encouraged to attend.

"We are always excited by the talent in communities across Canada," said Arlene Minkhorst, Director of the RWB School Professional Division. "The audition tour is an excellent way for dancers to discover their potential and an absolutely vital next step in realizing their career aspirations."

The robust programming of the RWB School has a sterling reputation for producing talent in the world of ballet and in several arenas within the performing arts. The programs have been developed to produce dynamic dancers and dance educators with the pillar of ballet technique and complementary training by experts in modern dance, character dance and performance enhancement.
