Media Theatre Sets New Dance Class Schedule

Dance! Dance! Dance! Classes are continuing at The Media Theatre School and Dance Studio at 28 West State Street in Media.

With the holiday season arriving soon and school now in session, a new schedule for classes begins in November. Classes will be held each week in Tap and Ballet Monday through Wednesday with a special beginner's course in Creative Movement on Saturday mornings at 10am.

This will allow students to pursue dance training while still having plenty of time to focus on their public or private school curriculum and extra activities they might be involved in.

Dorothy Brown, the theatre's dance instructor, says "We are keeping on our toes-in a manner of speaking-in ballet classes. Students are focusing on placement and proper alignment. They are finding that their turns, balance, and extension are benefiting."

"We have also been exploring steady beat and rhythm in our Tap Classes and Creative Movement class", she explained. "Students take turns making interesting rhythms with their feet and hands, while the rest of the class keeps the beat steady. We've danced with props in some classes!"

The New Dance Schedule begins in November. There will not be classes on Thursdays and Fridays during the busy school season and holiday season.

Instead, the School and Dance Studio will have dance classes on the following days and times:

Tap 1...Mondays 4- 5pm and Wednesdays 5- 6pm

Tap 2...Mondays 5- 6pm

Youth Ballet....Monday and Tuesdays 6- 7:30pm; also Wednesdays 6- 7pm

Adult Ballet....Wednesdays 7- 8pm

Creative Movement for ages 4, 5, and 6....Saturdays 10- 11am

Classes are $12 each and must be purchased in groups of 10 by getting a $120 Dance Card at The Media Theatre. Each time students use a card it is marked; all cards are good for a three month period of time from date of purchase. Students may attend whenever convenient throughout the week.
