Boston area residents of all ages and dance abilities are welcome to take part in these community celebrations of Alvin Ailey's soul-stirring dance masterpiece "Revelations." Participants will be led through the dance steps and choreography from three sections of the work. Both workshops include performances by local gospel choirs, and dancing will be accompanied by live percussion music. Participants should wear comfortable, loose clothing or dancewear. Clean, rubber-soled athletic shoes are recommended.

Before the Dorchester event begins, the St. Paul AME Church choir will perform, led by Donnell Patterson. The Roxbury event opens with the Boston Latin School Gospel Choir, led by Kristen George.
