Emory Dance Program Opens DANCE FOR REEL Submissions; Deadline 11/4

The Emory Dance Program is now accepting dance for camera submissions for "Dance for Reel" an evening of curated dance for camera to be presented on November 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Presentation Room of the Oxford Road Building on Emory’s campus. The deadline for submissions is November 4.

Curators Gregory Catellier of the Emory dance faculty and Seattle based dance/media artist Jeff Curtis are seeking dances specifically made for the camera that demonstrate creativity and excellence in cinematography and choreography. Works must have been created after January 1, 2009 and should be no more than 15 minutes in length.

“Dance for camera is a growing interest throughout the dance field,” says Catellier, “there are some intriguing possibilities that the camera affords that are not possible onstage.” Catellier and Curtis have collaborated for over four years on dance and video projects, most recently with May’s Catellier Dance Projects’ concert “The Final Frontier.”

“Dance for Reel” presents an evening of curated dance November 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Presentation Room of the Oxford Road Building. Admission is free and open to the public.
