Dance Source Houston Sets 2nd Annual Barnstorm Dance Fest Lineup

Dance Source Houston (DSH) has announced the line up for the second annual Barnstorm Dance Fest taking place at The Barn - Dance Source Performing Arts Space June 16-25, 2016. This year's festival will feature works by 21 different dance makers across three unique programs, offering Houston audiences a diverse selection of local and out of town artists, both emerging and established.

"After an overwhelming response to the call for applications, curators were able to craft three distinct performance rosters to highlight a slice of what Houston has to offer. We are excited to expand the 2016 festival activities beyond performances to include talk back sessions and master classes with visiting performers," says Mollie Haven Miller, Interim Director of DSH.

Five of the Barnstorm artists have spent the 2015-16 season as artists in residence, receiving rent- free rehearsal space at The Barn in preparation for the June performances. Jacquelyne Jay Boe, Amy Elizabeth, Jasmine Hearn, Laura Gutierrez and Autumn Knight will appear together on Program B to allow audiences the full scope of the residency program. For Gutierrez the experience has allowed an organic and well thought out process, saying that "the AIR program has allowed me the studio space and time to not forcefully put a dance together and instead to take the time to figure out what it is truly that I want to research and share with audiences at this point in my choreographic career."

Barnstorm Dance Fest will serve as the final performance to take place during DSH's management of The Barn. The beloved space will be celebrated immediately following the final performance, and Houston dance community members and supporters are encouraged to attend.
