Dance Council of North Texas Sets Companies, Artists for Inaugural Dallas DanceFest

Dance Council of North Texas (DCNT) is excited to announce the companies and artists selected to perform at the inaugural Dallas DanceFest (DDF) which runs August 29-31, 2014 at the Dallas City Performance Hall. The three-day event promises to deliver excellence, vibrancy, vitality, and diversity in dance. DDF features performances by Dallas luminaries including Texas Ballet Theater, Bruce Wood Dance Project, Dallas Black Dance Theatre in addition to established, emerging, and academic dance companies and artists. The full roster of performers is below. 2014 DDF is dedicated to choreographer Bruce Wood who passed away suddenly at the end of May. Wood played a pivotal role in establishing and promoting dance in North Texas.

Dance Council Honors coincides with DDF and takes place Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 2:00pm at the Dallas City Performance Hall. This year's honorees include Nita Braun*, Suzie Jary, Beth Wortley, Buster Cooper*, Joe Cutaia and Ann Briggs-Cutaia, and Dylis Croman. The afternoon begins with a reception followed by a program that includes performances by 2014 DCNT Scholarship recipients, professional dance companies, a silent auction, and the Honors awards presentation. (* awarded posthumously).

Tickets for DDF and Dance Council Honors will be available beginning August 1.
