Dance is deeply engrained in Mexico and its history, religious traditions, and social and art movements. Its evolution brought about different forms of popular dances which constitute the roots of tradition and folklore. Ballet Folklórico de México represents Mexico in its most renowned stages with a wide repertoire profoundly rooted in its folklore.

The Ballet consists of a large team of specialists from different fields-dancers, composers, singers, costume and set designers, and musicians-led by founder, dancer, and choreographer Amalia Hernandez. Inspired by the essence of Mexican folklore, Hernandez recreated those dances using different techniques from modern and classical dance, creating a stage show that has reached great audiences both Mexican and beyond. Her efforts culminated in the establishment of the Folkloric Ballet of Mexico, and its dance school for the training of professional dancers.
