The Suffolk Theater in Riverhead, NY proudly presents the legendary voice of The Drifters, Ben E. King on June 7 in a rare Long Island appearance. King is known for such summer classics Under the Boardwalk, Up On The Roof and Stand By Me.

Stand by Me, considered to be King's signature song, hit the Billboard Top 10 when it was released in 1961 and again in 1986 as part of the Rob Reiner- Stephen King movie also named Stand by Me. Ben E. King won a Grammy Legends award for Stand By Me, which was also named by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the "top 500 songs that shaped Rock & Roll."

Stand by Me is just one of many hits that made Ben E. King one of the most iconic voices of his time. With the classic soul group The Drifters, King sang hits such as Save the Last Dance for Me, This Magic Moment, and There Goes My Baby. As a solo artist, he created other memorable songs including Stand by Me, Rose in Spanish Harlem and I Who Have Nothing. Ben E. King's soulful voice helped shape the vocal stylings of generations of Motown, Stax Records, soul, and pop artists. .

In addition to touring and performances, Ben E. King remains active in charitable pursuits. According to the organization's mission, The Ben E. King Stand by Me Foundation assists: "those organizations that provide services in the areas of poverty, substance abuse, child abuse and neglect, teen pregnancy and domestic violence." The foundation also assists individuals in their quest for post-high school education.
