106 Year Old Alexandria Near Celebrates Birthday With a Dance

Alexandria Near celebrated her 106th birthday by dancing at her home in the HomeLife at Folts, where she has resided since 2014.

During an interview, Director of Activities, Angie Dorantes, said, "She loves music... In general, she looks to have a good time."

The party for Near included about 40 residents and staff members with music from Paul Ryder.

The HomeLife at Folts & Folts-Claxton campus is a senior retirement community, located in the historic Village of Herkimer, New York that has been providing care to seniors since 1943.

In 1893 the Folts family home was transferred to the Northern New York Conference of the Methodist Church and became the Folts Mission Institute until 1927.

In 1943 the Northern New York Conference of the Methodist Church obtained clear title to the entire property. Folts Home was established and renovation of the Folks Mansion (Judd Building) and adjacent Mission Institute Buildings was completed.

Expansion continued as the need for a wide range of healthcare options grew. The Folts campus now includes the Adult Care Facility, Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing and Adult Day Health Care.

HomeLife at Folts & Folts-Claxton was established in February 2015.
