Violinist Eldbjorg Hemsing and Pianist Nargiz Aliyarova Come to Bruno Walter Auditorium

The National Music & Global Culture Society will present the rising Norwegian star, violinist Eldbørg Hemsing and internationally noted Azerbaijani pianist Nargiz Aliyarova in recital at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center (111 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10023) on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2019 at 7 pm. The program-entitled "From East to West"-will focus on solo and chamber works from both Norway and Azerbaijan.

A champion of Norway's rich musical tradition, Eldbjørg Hemsing has been a national musical figure in her native country since making her solo debut with the Bergen Philharmonic at the age of 11. Studying with Boris Kuschnir in Vienna, she has appeared both nationally and internationally. She has collaborated with composer Tan Dun on numerous projects in Europe and Asia.

2018 saw the release of Eldbjørg Hemsing's first CD on the Swedish label, BIS, championing the little-known

1914 violin concerto of the Norwegian composer, Hjalmar Borgström, coupled with a recording of Shostakovich's Violin Concerto with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Olari Elis. This debut album was followed in the autumn of 2018 by a recording of Dvo?ák's Violin Concerto and Suk's Fantasy and Love Song with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and Alan Buribayev.

Azerbaijani pianist Nargiz Aliyarova-known for her "powerful artistic spirit"-commands a broad repertoire, spanning from the Baroque to contemporary. Ms. Aliyarova appears regularly in solo and chamber music recitals, and has been featured in her performances with chamber and symphonic orchestras in 40 different cities across the globe.

Ms. Aliyarova has taken part in a number of international festivals, including the International Contemporary Music Congress in Darmstadt, Germany, U. Hajibeyli International Festival, Gabala International Festival, the Phonex Festival in Cologne, Germany, and Azerbaijan's Baku Silk Way.

Upon relocating to New York City in 2016, Ms. Aliyarova founded the National Music & Global Culture Society, with the goal of bringing together the music and people of different cultures to foster cross-cultural exchange and a more global musical perspective. The National Music & Global Culture Society has featured guest artists such as: violinists Blagomire Lipari and Byunchan Lee; violist Gizem Yucel; cellists Sterling Elliott and Christine Lampre; flutist Bart Platteau; sopranos Zoya Garmagin and Shenika John Jordan; baritone Nigel Smith; and pianists Amina Figarova and Irena Portneko; as well as collaborated with the Sphinx Organization.

Ms. Aliyarova's discography includes three recordings on the Etcetera Label: Haydn, Mozart & Beethoven: Piano Works (2017); Nargiz Aliyarova plays Azerbaijani Music (2016); and Nargiz Aliyarova plays Chopin (2015). Two additional recordings have been released in Turkey. Awards and prizes for performance include: Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan Republic, 2008; Laureate of the Pietro Argento 11th International Competition in Italy, 2008; and a diploma for "Outstanding Contribution to the Legacy of Chopin" by the Polish government in 2010.

Ms. Aliyarova has taught as a Professor of Piano and Chamber Music at the Baku Music Academy in Azerbaijan for twenty-five years, during which time she authored over 20 scholarly articles and several books. A member of the Azerbaijan State Piano Trio for fifteen years, Ms. Aliyarova is also President of
