The Sydney Art Quartet + Erin Helyard Present BLIND TRUST

The Sydney Art Quartet + Erin Helyard Present BLIND TRUSTOn the back of their sell-out season with David Wenham, the Sydney Art Quartet announces Blind Trust - a concert performed for a blindfolded audience by one of the leading musicians of his generation - Erin Helyard.

In Blind Trust, audiences will be handed blindfolds upon entry to the darkened performance space and invited to immerse themselves into keyboard concertos by Mozart & Bach with an extra level of intensity.

"I have never heard of this being done before", says Artistic Director James Beck. "To be able to hear to these iconic works, performed in these special circumstances will be one of the most memorable experiences we have ever created".

Sydney audiences would know Erin Helyard as Artistic Director and co-founder of the celebrated Pinchgut Opera, for which he has conducted over 20 individual productions in Australia, Canada & New Zealand. Operas under Erin's direction have been awarded Best Opera at the Helpmann Awards for three consecutive years (2015-2017) and in 2017 he was awarded a Helpmann for Best Music Direction for Handel's Saul at the Adelaide Festival. Erin's incredible musical gifts are rooted in his superb skills on historic keyboards, eminent scholarship and an approach that makes audiences feel like the music is being created for the first time in their presence.

"The Yellow House has the proportions of an 18th century drawing room - the kind of vibrant acoustic Mozart & Bach had in mind when writing these concertos", says guest soloist Erin Helyard. "I'm excited about performing two concertos by two of the greatest composers on both harpsichord and fortepiano in the same concert - its going be a very special offering".

Attracting an audience described as 'the envy of the arts scene', the Sydney Art Quartet has created over 40 handcrafted collaborations at the historic Yellow House Potts Point as part of their 3 year artistic residency. With numbers limited to just 70 people per performance, seats will be strictly limited.
