NOSEDA And SHOSTAKOVICH On LSO LIVE: Symphony No. 8 Available Today

Today, LSO Live releases its latest recording with Principal Guest Conductor Gianandrea Noseda leading the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) in Shostakovich's tragic and deeply affecting Symphony No. 8. This follows the critically acclaimed release of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 in June 2018. The recording is being made available as an exclusive digital download. This continues Noseda and LSO's ongoing commitment to performing the complete symphonies of Dmitri Shostakovich.

Shostakovich's Symphony No. 8 marks Noseda's fourth LSO Live recording, following Britten's War Requiem, Verdi's Requiem, and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5. The recording, released as an exclusive digital download today, will be released on CD in October 2019.

Gianandrea Noseda is one of the world's most sought-after symphonic and opera conductors. In addition to his position as Principal Guest Conductor of the LSO, Noseda was named Music Director of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C. in January 2016; the orchestra recently announced the extension of Noseda's contract through the 2024-2025 season. In July 2018, Zurich Opera House appointed Noseda as its next General Music Director, beginning with the 2021-2022 season.

This season, Noseda leads the LSO in Shostakovich's Symphony No. 4 and the world premiere of James MacMillan's All the Hills and Vales Along in November 2018; Shostakovich's Symphony No. 1, Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, and works by Richard Strauss in March 2019; and Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 1 for Piano, Trumpet & Strings and Berlioz's Harold en Italie in June 2019.
