Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and President Deborah Borda today announced the 2013/14 season of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. This new season, the Orchestra's 95th, celebrates both the 10th anniversary of the opening of Walt Disney Concert Hall and Gustavo Dudamel's 5th year as Music Director.

The pillars of this celebratory period, with 13 new commissions, 11 world premieres, 4 U.S. premieres and 4 West Coast premieres, include:

  • Inside Out - a series of performances marking the 10th anniversary of Walt Disney Concert Hall
  • The final production of the three-year Mozart opera project with Così fan tutte
  • The return of Minimalist Jukebox, a festival guided by Creative Chair John Adams with citywide partners
  • TchaikovskyFest - the return of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela co-presenting the complete Tchaikovsky Symphonies with the LA Phil, all conducted by Gustavo Dudamel
  • Beethoven with Andsnes, the second installment in this three-year exploration of the composer's music
  • Brahms Project with Emanuel Ax
  • The conclusion of András Schiff's survey of the solo keyboard music of Bach

"The tenth birthday of Walt Disney Concert Hall is a wonderful reason for our great city of Los Angeles to celebrate," said Gustavo Dudamel, Music Director. "Our friend and colleague, Frank Gehry, lovingly built this world-renowned masterpiece as a living room for the people, and we get to share it with you through our music making. This season, I am excited by all of our musical offerings, from the works that inspired me to become a musician to the numerous commissions and premieres that have become a trademark of the LA Phil. An additional delight for me is to have my two musical families, the LA Phil and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, working together once again - this time with Tchaikovsky. As a young boy, I discovered Tchaikovsky through great recordings and he has had a very special place in my heart ever since. I hope that you will join us to celebrate this great hall and great music."
