Anthony Kearns Set for U.S. Military Tribute at Salamander Resort & Spa, 2/28

By: Feb. 18, 2015
Famed tenor Anthony Kearns, a founding member of The Irish Tenors, will perform during a special Irish-themed reception and tribute to U.S. military on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, Va. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Official program to begin at approximately 6:45 p.m.

The ticketed event will kick-off the March Irish season and will feature signature cocktails and fare, with premium wines from Greenhill Winery and Vineyards, the Exclusive Wine Sponsor. A V.I.P. "meet the artist" reception will follow with Irish-inspired cocktails and desserts by Salamander's award-winning pastry chef, Jason Reaves.

Mr. Kearns joins an array of featured guests including former Virginia First Lady Susan Allen and Martha-Ann Alito, both daughters of U.S. military members, and Congresswoman Barbara Comstock. Others include Larry Michael, ten-time Emmy winner and "Voice of the Washington Redskins" on NBC4, as Master of Ceremonies; former Army Captain Jas Boothe, founder of Final Salute, Inc., who told her story of helping homeless female combat vets to PEOPLE Magazine and Oprah Winfrey; and Linda Davidson, co-founder and executive director of Our Military Kids Representatives from the offices of Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner will attend. The U.S. Marine Color Guard will present the American flag.

"Salamander Resort & Spa is honored to co-host this powerful event featuring Anthony Kearns, one of the world's most beloved tenors, to recognize the work of Our Military Kids, a Virginia-based charity that does exemplary work nationwide in support of military families including those of our war wounded. It will be an evening of breathtaking music and fine food, and we're proud to be a part of its creation," said Reggie Cooper, General Manager of Salamander Resort.

"Our Military Kids is proud to partner with Salamander Resort to showcase our mission to support the children of deployed National Guard and Reserve personnel and the children of all Wounded Warriors. Their needs are so often overlooked. We are grateful for this opportunity to spotlight their service while also listening to the talented Mr. Kearns," said Linda Davidson, executive director and co-founder of the McLean, VA-based organization.

Kearns has become a favorite among the U.S. military. In 2014, he was a featured guest entertainer for PBS' National Memorial Day Concert, and in 2013, he was a guest of General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at a tribute to Medal of Honor recipients. Kearns also performed at the Friends of Ireland lunch hosted by Speaker John Boehner for President Barack Obama and other dignitaries. In 2012, he headlined the Veterans Day Special with American Idol winner Ruben Studdard and the U.S. Air Force Band on Maryland Public Television. Recently he sang at the World War II Memorial to honor America's "Greatest Generation." Kearns will be accompanied by Jon Laird of Manassas, Virginia.
