Love is always in vogue. Talking about love always appeals to all people of all ages. Love story is always in the news. Sadly, though, the contrary is also true. Human trafficking, taking girls away from their home to send abroad as sex slaves, sometimes hit the headlines. Inspired by her experience of love and interconnectedness and her anguish at the contrary virtues, author Elizabeth Olagunju pens a stirring fiction that shares the gift of love and connectedness, titled Love Is It: Diamond and Love: Coming of Age of A Brown Eye Girl.

Readers are introduced to several great characters. Dira, which means Diamond, is the girl who fell in love with a twin brother that was mistaken for a long lost boyfriend. Suya is the girl from the same place as Dira. They both share their experiences of coming of age. Kai is the long lost boyfriend of Dira who became quadriplegic but was later connected to Dira. Raj is the identical twin brother of Kai, separated at birth, raised by a rich man and has a different outlook in life. He fell in love with Dira who mistook him for Kai. Finally, there is Ms. Roy, the teacher and American Peace Corps who is the great connector.

Olagunju's book revolves around the theme that love makes the world go on. It exhorts readers to a connector; to connect with someone for something good. The circle of love is widened as one person extends love to another. The story's main character, Dira, involved in a love triangle, strives to connect with her true love by being persistent. Love makes her see beyond disability once a connector brought her the good news of finding a friend she had been searching for.

Love Is It uniquely talks about love while offering a touch of culture, an education into a different language, and a perspective on science research showing how all human beings are one. It also shows the prominent role of science in changing the culture of ignorance into that of health and progress. This is one book that will always leave readers with some new learning and experience each time it is read and re-read.
