Ed Tingstrom's passion for history led him to study the military history of the United States. His research in the National Archives, Library of Congress and other institutions gave him insight into the lives of people whose service is the embodiment of bravery and honor. He shares the inspiring, true stories of eighty-eight African-American Medal of Honor recipients and invites readers to celebrate their lives and legacy in Courage And Valor, Above And Beyond.

Courage And Valor, Above And Beyond is a collection of eighty-eight biographies of military servicemen who were recognized for their efforts to serve their country. Capturing the zeitgeist of historic events including the Civil War, the two World Wars and the Korean War, the stories offer an honest and touching glimpse into the lives of these people before and after receiving America's highest medal for valor. More than that, the book paints a portrait of the essence of freedom and the extraordinary sacrifices that recipients were willing to make to make it attainable not just for them but for everyone in their country.

"It has been a quest of mine to find out about the contributions of the various ethic groups that comprise our society in the battles for freedom, which have been waged, since the founding of our great nation," Tingstrom shares.

Eye-opening and relevant, Courage And Valor, Above And Beyond is both a powerful account of ordinary men who dared to do extraordinary things and an unforgettable tribute to their lives and efforts.

This book will be featured at the New York Library Association Book Exhibit in Niagara Falls, N.Y. on September 25 - 28, 2013.
