Pan Asian Rep Announces Dance Master Class, Begins 7/7

4 Master classes in Okinawan dance with Master Choreographer, Sachiyo Ito will take place on July 7 – 28, 2009.

Okinawa, known as the islands of music and dance, has long been a crossroads of Southeast Asia. Okinawa’s art is indigenous, but also reflects the cultures of other countries in the region. This offering will include the basic movements and techniques of the Okinawan court dance; comparison with Kabuki and Noh; the male dance based on Karate; the female dance with an emphasis on hand gestures.
