Martha Plimpton To Guest Star On ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy'

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the news that Three-time Tony Award nominee Martha Plimpton has been cast in a multi-episode role on ABC's Grey's Anatomy. Plimpton received a 2009 Tony nomination for her performance in Roundabout's PAL JOEY this past season.

Beginning with the season premiere of the show, Plimpton will appear as the mother of a young patient. The upcoming sixth season of Grey's Anatomy premieres on Sept. 24th.

Martha Plimpton recently received Tony and Drama League nominations for her work in MTC's acclaimed revival of Top Girls. Other Broadway: Cymbeline, The Coast of Utopia (Drama Desk, Outer Critics awards, Tony nomination), Shining City, 16 Wounded. Off-Broadway: A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hurlyburly, The False Servant, Flesh & Blood, Boston Marriage, Hobson's Choice (Obie award), suburbia, Pericles. Regional: Uncle Vanya, Sisters Rosensweig, Heidi Chronicles (Seattle Rep), Absolution (dir.), The Glass Menagerie, The Libertine (Steppenwolf), Hedda Gabler, Playboy of the Western World, (Steppenwolf, Long Wharf). Member of Steppenwolf Theater Company ensemble. She has appeared in over 35 films and was nominated for an Emmy award for her appearance on "Law & Order: SVU."

Grey's Anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo as MerEdith Grey, Patrick Dempsey as Derek Shepherd, Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang, Katherine Heigl as Isobel "Izzie" Stevens, Justin Chambers as Alex Karev, T.R. Knight as George O'Malley, Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, James Pickens, Jr. as Richard Webber, Sara Ramirez as Callie Torres, Eric Dane as Mark Sloan, Chyler Leigh as Lexie Grey and Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt.

Grey's Anatomy was created and is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes (Introducing Dorothy Dandridge). Betsy Beers (Casanova), Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan), Krista Vernoff (Law & Order), Rob Corn (Chicago Hope), Mark Wilding (Jake: 2.0) and Allan Heinberg (The O.C.) are executive producers.
