Darren Williams Ends Run at NYC's Metropolitan Room, 6/23

By:

Direct from headlining on Cunard's prestigious Queen Victoria, a tour of Japan, and engagements in his home country of Australia, Darren Willams returns to Metropolitan Room at Gotham and debuts at Tim McLoone's Supper Club in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

At the Metropotalian Room, he will appear for two shows only: Monday, June 21 at 7pm and Wednesday, June 23 at 7:30pm. He will then be appearing on the Boardwalk in Asbury Park at Tim McLoone's Supper Club on June 24 at 8pm.

Mr. Williams brings his Peter Allen show, "Not the Boy Next Door: the Peter Allen Songbook," back to the Metropolitan Room. It will include crowd-pleasing show-stoppers like "I Go To Rio," "Arthur's Theme," "I Honestly Love You" and "Don't Cry Out Loud" as well as lesser-known songs from the prolific Peter Allen songbook.

In addition to the Peter Allen salute, audiences at Tim McLoone's will enjoy a second act - "Poperatic." With the unique ability to sing everything from pop to opera, Darren Willams has captivated audiences with his Aussie charisma, good looks and soaring vocal range. Mr. Williams has been repeatedly singled out down under as one of Australia's finest live performers.

Consequently, he has been honored with the Peter Allen Australian Variety Entertainer of the Year Award and named Best Male Vocalist by his peers at the prestigious MO Awards - Australia's top honors for excellence in live entertainment. To date, he has received five MO Awards and two ACE Awards (Australian Club Entertainment Awards) for Outstanding Male Vocal Performer. Dennis Buck will be musical director with Ray Kilday on bass and Ray Grappone on percussion.

Mr. Williams, who has often been compared to Allen, brings night club entertainment to a new level with his unique brand of rafter-raising delivery and openness with a lyric that is compelling.
